Statement
En mi obra trazo caminos imaginarios que puedo recorrer. Mis obras son ecosistemas donde no existen otros protagonistas más que la repetición constante de ciertos patrones que establezco como recurrentes, insistentes… reveladores. Las líneas rectas las considero como el tiempo justo en el que se interrumpe un momento y empieza el siguiente, son límites entre fases que me permiten transitar del pasado al presente y soñar el futuro. La líneas circulares en cambio, transitan como signos en un proceso que empieza, se desarrolla y vuelve al punto de partida.

Semblanza
Gabriela Elías nace en 1969 en la Ciudad de México, lugar donde vive y trabaja actualmente. Es egresada de la Licenciatura en derecho por la Universidad Iberoamericana. Comienza su desarrollo como artista plástica en distintos talleres en México, Costa Rica y Brasil. Al día de hoy ha participado en cinco exposiciones individuales, entre las que destaca Enfoque global (2011) en el Museo Casa del poeta y más de treinta exposiciones colectivas, subastas y ferias de arte, entre las que destacan el Museo de Arte Moderno (año) y el Museo Soumaya (año), a través de la Fundación Arte Vivo y el Festival Internacional de gráfica respectivamente. Ha sido acreedora de Mención honorífica en la exposición Mis derechos van a donde yo voy, patrocinada por Amnistía Internacional. Ha formado parte del programa de voluntarios Amigos del Museo de Arte Moderno por tres años, impartiendo visitas al acervo y exposiciones del museo. Actualmente se encuentra trabajando en su próxima serie de obras.

Statement
In my work I trace imaginary paths that I can travel. My works are like ecosystems where there are no other protagonists than the constant repetition of certain patterns that I establish as recurrent, insistent … revealing. I consider the straight lines as the exact timing in which one moment is interrupted and the next one begins, they are limits between phases that allow me to move from the past to the present and dream about the future. The circular lines, on the other hand, are signs of a process that begins, develops and returns to the starting point.

Semblanza
Gabriela Elías was born in 1969 in Mexico City, where she currently lives and works. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Universidad Iberoamericana. She began her career as a visual artist in different workshops in Mexico, Costa Rica and Brazil. Until now, she has had five solo shows, including Enfoque global (2011) at Museo Casa del Poeta and has been part in more than thirty group exhibitions, auctions and art fairs, including the Museo de Arte Moderno (year) and Museo Soumaya (year), through Fundación Arte Vivo and Festival Internacional de gráfica. She has been awarded in the exhibition Mis derechos van a donde voy yo, sponsored by Amnesty International. She has been volunteer for the program Amigos del Museo de Arte Moderno for three years, guiding visits to the collection and exhibitions of the museum. She is currently working on her next series of works.
